Our percussion introduction courses are the ideal setting for you to enter the fascinating world of percussion.
The informal and instructive lessons allow you to solidly develop basic notions of pulse, technique and coordination, while becoming familiar with different percussion styles from Africa, South America and the Middle East. In these weekly 90-minute sessions, you get to play on a wide range of amazing instruments originating from Ghana, Brazil, Cuba and Turkey, under the careful guidance of professional percussionists who are eager to teach you all about the joy of percussion.
Throughout the semester you improve your technique and sense of pulse, become acquainted with essential notions of rhythm theory and discover new ways of making and understanding music. And, most importantly, you have fun in the process.
Finally, after you've sampled the many possibilities of the percussion world and have defined a specific preference (or realized you want to become an expert player of every style on the planet), it will be time for you to move on to the thematic courses in African Djembe, Brazilian Samba and/or Arabic Darbuka.
The Percussion Introduction Course is just the beginning of your musical journey. After this, you will never want to stop playing.
